As Covid-19 swept across the UK and the rest of the world, my home office became my only office. The impact of the pandemic meant that I lost a lot of my regular work and found myself with very little to do. Initially I felt bereft, aside from home schooling my son, I was craving ‘creative work’ to keep me occupied.
I decided to use the opportunity of ‘down time’ to get back to my real passions, drawing, painting and playing with plasticine! I was inspired by my friend Jim Parkyn (excellent Aardman model-maker and animator) who started putting ‘how to tutorials’ on IGTV.
The weeks went by and I found myself creating more and more models and friends and acquaintances began to ask me to create models of their pets for presents. Model making as a career has always been a dream of mine. I am thankful for lockdown for reigniting my love for ‘building’ and giving me the desire to make it part of my everyday work.
